  Seaman's Hut is an emergency shelter approximately 2km from Rawson Pass, and approximately 7km from Charlotte Pass, and from Thredbo.
  
  The shelter itself is a very basic building, with no electricity or water, but provides the necessary shelter and warmth one would need when hiking in the back country here or if lost and in peril in dangerous conditions.
  
  The hut is divided into three rooms,. Entering via a stable style door (a door which is split into two sections, top and bottom), the first room has one door in and out of the hut, the only door, and two doors which lead into the main rooms of the hut. In this front room/foyer firewood is stored, as well as a bin for ash and a block splitter to split the firewood into smaller pieces for the stove inside.
  
  The two doors lead to the two main rooms of the hut, the right hand door leads to a room which has a cupboard on the wall, benches around the other walls, and a plaque remembering four young men who lost their lives in a snow cave around one and a half kilometres from here after being caught in foul weather for a number of days while out snowboarding.
  The cupboard has a few small food items left by other trekkers, for people in emergencies, but is not stocked by the national park service.
  
  The left hand door leads into the other room, which has a pot belly stove, benches around the walls, as well as a plaque telling the story of Mr Seaman and Mr Hayes, who lost their lives on the slopes of Mt Kosciuszko, and for whom in memorial the hut was built.
  
  The rooms have windows which can be opened, and also has shutters, on the inside, to close to keep warmth in and bad weather out.
  
  This hut was built to provide emergency shelter to those who are in peril in the high country, and as a day use stop over point.
  
  Anyone is free to use the hut, but please try to leave the firewood for emergencies.
